Brenda's Log Cabin

My dear, sweet, friend Kelly and I went to check out the Log Cabin down the road from my home.  Every fishing opener and deer opener it is open to sell fun items for your log cabin or stooge.   Good old Englund Family music (Polka's and Olde   Time and some sung in Swedish too!) is playing and the fire is toasty warm.  Hot cider and homemade snicker doodles and ginger snaps to enjoy.  The temps are brisk and the snow was pelleting down.  I have an 'ol romantic heart and this cozy little place makes me think of the wonderful season we have ahead of us.  Hunker down and enjoy the season with warm fires and lots of cooking and visits with extended family and friends!  Life is a bustle of busy and often I am making a list of who to visit and to call.  Soon it might be YOU!!

Olson Excavating

Memories linger and people are growing old.  I hasten myself to start working on those books I keep saying I am going to do.  How can a story keeper be a story keeper if I don't get it out of my memories and jot it down.
I called Uncle Kenny a day ago and asked if I could wander a little and take some photos of the machinery and shop.  He seemed happy to be asked and offered a little photo shoot of him and his truck #36.  It's sorta a visit in time being there.  I could clearly see in my mind those days when us kids got to climb all over the machinery and check out which dump truck we could call back to Grandma and Grandpa's house on the two way radio.   I wonder how many times my Uncles or Grandpa found a battery dead on the dump trucks or grader because of us little monkeys?  Thanks for letting us have those days!!!

I'm still working on a book to send to Sweden telling what I know of how life was for the Olsson's that immigrated to this area.  Who are the descendants and what became of us.  We are so interested in what life was for them in Sweden and the families they left behind.  I will keep searching for more history and the stories but time has a way of erasing our stories and I only have what little I heard from Grandpa Walter or my mother.  Now to tap into my Uncles' memories; somewhere, something and anything are more precious then unnamed photos.  The stories are then pieced together in imaginary pictures in our minds who these people are.  I can write something down and add it to the small collection of pictures that once had a name.  As story keeper, I'm going to do my best to capture our history and weave it into our family albums.  It's worth repeating!!
 Uncle Kenny still cuts wood!!!

Bird Hunter

Grant is home for a brief hunting excursion close to home.  Never mind the Mom and Dad who are so excited to see him.  We got a brief update and some hugs and away he went bow hunting last night.  Goose hunting in the morning and bird hunting this midday with Brook.  She got her hunting collar on and she can't keep her eyes off the sky!!  Where ever Grant walks she is close to his heels and panting with excitment!!  How she will love to get a some bird action!!!
He's so fun to see and spend time with!  We cherish every minute!!

Chicken Anyone?

Little Ian came for a visit!!  I enjoy seeing him and try to be somewhat entertaining for him.  I showed him the chickens!!  He was interested in the little ones I think!!
This little hen has a wild comb.  Hope my neices and nephews are getting a look at this one!!  I need their help naming her.  She's always nervous but she's a good one.  Nervous Nellie is not an option!
Mama Cuckoo Maran and her little brood of seven chicks. Raising chickens is easy work but still looking for a buyer for my coop and hens.  I am looking to design a new improved set up!!
Pat and Michelle contributed the eggs for my hen to set on.  Looks like we have Rhodes and Barred Rocks.
