Vesper

Vesper .... evening meal. We have bread and cheese and salami's and a salad like our coleslaw. At this meal I tried the raw ham spread! Taste good but I have no desire to have more because it is raw. The food is all good and the company at the table. Vesper is very typical for the evening meal. The main meal of the day is around the noon hour. Good appetite!

The Kohl Family

This home is lovely and full of life! Yesterday morning Paul came through this door and the hugs and kisses and tears were abundant! He is well known in
Stetten (I am introduced as Paul's mutter). Paul's arrival is cause for celebration, as was my arrival, champange is opened! There is an invite for
our family to come and visit the Kohl's!! Oh by the way Paul's name is on their mailbox!!

Life after Cheetos (a.k.a A Time for Everything)

Thursday on the plane I had raw salmon salsa and Hungarian caraway goat cheese on crackers!!

Friday I had squid on pizza. I did not order this. Simon shared one piece of
squid. It was spicey and rubbery. I won' t eat that again.

I also tried a German Beer guys! Just a sip. Ey... not bad but the wine here is
very good.

Saturday
We had maultaschen and potato salad german style. Paul's favorite meal here.
It is meat and spinach in ravioli. They have this meal during lent as the ravioli
hides the meat from God.

Sunday we went to Schlumpl and Omas for dinner. We had paprika chicken and rice and noodles with paprika sauce. Very good... I will get the recipe. For supper I had caviar!!! Ish!!!!!! Lot's of cheese and bread and salami's. All
very good.

Eppingen,Germany

This was a university in1564-1565 and made the town known for it. It belongs to the University of Heidelberg. This village is 12 km away from Stetten.

Hexenturm 15th century

Hexenturm means witches tower! Anna Maria Heinrich was the supposive witch who was inprisoned in this tower and later burnt. She is the last witch of Württemberg. The village wall path is through the doorway you see. The witches tower is on the southeast border of the medieval town and was built in 1461.

Village Wall

There is a wall all around the village of Schwaigern. This home is built right against the wall. Walking paths are public and we walked by this homes front door!! The wall is not entirely around the city because after WWII part of the wall was destroyed.

Holly

Protestant Church in Stetten

Built in the 1700's. The bells ring every hour. At 6:00 a.m.
and 3:00 p.m. it rings longer!! I enjoy this very much!

Willkommen In Deutschland

I have finally caught up on some sleep. Simon said
I was up 35 hours before I went to sleep.

My flight from Mpls was changed as Paul called me early in the morning and said the other flight is full.
He told me to hurry and try to catch the 8:40 flight. Jeff Reiners was my ride to the airport! He was
quick and I arrived just in time. Paul met me at
the door and we zipped through security. Paul
took care of the bookings and I made the early flight to Detroit. Although delayed some for de-
icing I still arrived extra early to Detroit. It was lunchtime and I headed to Chili's for a burger. I met a lady on her way to California and invited her to sit with me for lunch and we chatted for two hours! I still had 3 1/2 hours to wait. I rode first class to Germany!!!! The best way to fly! I was an idiot as I didn't understand why they gave me a rolled up something with tongs!! OH!! It was a hot wet washtowel. You wash up and freshen up before dinner!! My seat partner is a opera singer in Cologne. There is so much to tell you but I must save it for another time. My arrival to Frankfurt was greeted by the Kohl family with this sign and flowers and hugs!! They are the most wonderful people! Treated so well!!! I am very in love with Germany!! I love each one of them!! Paul, my son, will meet me here the 30th! Again, so much to tell and will post blogs later. In the photo left to right are Simon, Anna, Janis in back and Nozomu and my little buddy Maria in front holding flowers!

Stetten, Germany

We took a walk to the village bank and I was told this house is from 1555. Friends of the Kohl's live here. It is a beautiful village. Many timber framed homes with barn attached.

Utah

I flew out to Salt Lake, Utah to visit my sister, Deb, and her family November 24 and 25th. I flew stand by. What fun to just go on a whim! We drove through the Wasach
Mtn. and stopped by Wolf Mtn ski area for a peek. They made some snow as it hadn't snowed enough as of Thanksgiving. The twins were so excited about snowboarding soon. As we drove through the mountain, along the road is a trout stream. There are little shacks all long side and then one nice cabin. Very different. But the scenery still was beautiful in it's stark winter gray. We stopped at this stream to take some pictures and
the kids threw rocks at the ice that was forming. At home with the Sabin's we had a great dinner. Las Vegas steaks on the grill! As I tucked myself into bed (thank you
Jacob for giving up your room for the night) out my bedroom window is a full moon
sitting above the mountain range! It was beautiful! In the morning I went to church at Our Savior's Lutheran Church of Roy, Utah. Loved the people there and the service was very good. Not just because Chuck is Pastor. Oh by the way... the acolyte was outstanding! You should have him more often! (Great job Jacob!) And thanks to Mitch
for sitting with Auntie at church. That was cool for me. BECAUSE... what teenager
wants to hang out with an Aunt? Mitch did! Thanks bud!

Here is my first blog! I have created this blog to stay connected to my family and friends.
It is so fun to go to the Yankowiak's Blog and see our darling nieces. I am flying to Germany
after Christmas and hope to keep up a photo album and blog comments daily for who ever
is interested in my adventures!
