There was a story being passed around the church for us to read and it
told that in 1937 the Luther League wanted to help contribute to the
remodeling of the church and the League broke into two groups to see who
could come up with great ideas and raise the most money.
The groups named themselves, "The Eastern Strivers" and the Plucky West". Each side sponsored many socials with an admission price. Fun times and good fellowship and creative meetings lead up to a Mom's suggestion of a Kropp Kakor dinner and the Leaguers loved the idea!! And here I was tonight!!! Carrying on the old tradition of eating lead balls!! Buying cranberry orange relish at the bake sale and of course taking pictures! A Swedish girl exclaimed, Uff Da! Most people do, I ignore them! And wouldn't you know it... I saw some folks from way out west of Cambridge!! Nearly Princeton for Luther's sake!
